More information

Urgent medical assistance at the airport

The Brussels Airport Rescue-Team is available around the clock. In order to be able to provide a smooth service, we ask you to try and come to the Brussels Airport Rescue-Team facilities yourself, if possible.

If you need (urgent) help on location, please call 112 mentioning:

  • the exact location of the patient;
  • whether or not the patient for which the call is made is conscious.

After a call for medical help, the patient needs to stay where they are!

Location of the medical staff

The Brussels Airport Rescue-Team facilities for urgent medical help are located in the terminal at ground level (level 0), at the exit towards the bus station.

European emergency number 112

If you’re in distress, you can of course always contact the European emergency number 112 as well.

Police services at the airport

The Federal Police operate two separate services at the airport: the aviation police and the federal judicial police.

  • The aviation police are responsible for the border control and the general policing of the airport complex, among other things. They also man the main call centre. The officers usually wear uniforms.
  • The federal judicial police at the airport - often in plain clothes - specialise in judicial investigations, mainly in the area of organised cross-border crime.

The police services at the airport are permanently available at the central telephone number: +32 2 709 66 66.

The Federal Airport Health Authority

Saniport, the Federal Airport Health Authority, implements the International Health Regulations (2005) at the Points of Entry - in Belgium's territory. It establishes a first health barrier against potential global health threats (e.g. SARS, pandemics) and actively participates in controlling vector-borne diseases (malaria, Chikungunya disease, West Nile virus).

The Federal Airport Health Authority officials monitor the hygiene status of the equipment used by airport passengers and are responsible for destroying luggage and consignments which represent a health risk.

They also issue certificates regarding the international transfer of mortal remains. For more information, visit www.health.belgium.be.
