New Course through Heart of Brussels for Brussels Airport Marathon on Sunday 3 November!

Events

Running a (half) marathon through the heart of Brussels? On Sunday 3 November, the Brussels Airport Marathon & Half Marathon will reveal a surprisingly revamped course with a spectacular finish in the centre of Brussels. Registration is now open!

The Brussels Airport Marathon & Half Marathon is in its 19th edition this year revealing an attractive and revamped course starting and finishing in the heart of Europe's capital. A course that fully exposes the heart and soul of Brussels.

Just like last year, the starting shot for the marathon and half marathon will sound on De Brouckèreplein, after which participants will first take a scenic loop through the city centre.

After crossing the centre, the runners of the half marathon will continue their run through the city. The marathon runners plunge into the Annie Cordy Tunnel on their way to the green lungs in and around Brussels via the monumental Basilica of Koekelberg: the Ganshoren marsh and the various parks of Jette.

Both distances come back together on the same course on the Heysel plateau, where runners can enjoy stunning views of the Atomium and Palace of Laeken.

The second part of the course features a series of new highlights, although some stretches will feel very familiar to fans of the event. For instance, runners will have the unique opportunity to run along the iconic Boulevard Lambermont with its stately mansions before heading towards Cinquantenaire Park.

Save the best for last? That promise will be fully realised this year with a finish in the city centre, which hasn’t been the case for a long time. What the exact route will look like and where the finish line will be exactly will be announced on 3 June.

In fact, the Brussels Airport Marathon & Half Marathon offers something for the whole sporting family. Besides the traditional marathon and half marathon distances, the programme also features a fast 7 km in the centre of the capital and a Persil 1K Kids Run.

“This course breathes Brussels and shows our capital at its best”

We are extremely happy and proud to once again be able to bring the Brussels Airport Marathon & Half Marathon to the historic heart of the city,” says Thomas Huyberechts of organiser Golazo. “This course breathes Brussels and shows our capital city at its best.  We are hugely looking forward to welcoming thousands of runners from all over the world to Brussels.”

Arnaud Feist, CEO of Brussels Airport: “Once again this year, the Brussels Airport Marathon offers a unique course, allowing runners to take over the centre of Brussels for a while! Every year, I look forward to seeing live how this event brings together athletes of all levels and backgrounds. Thanks to the different distances, this is an event that everyone can participate in, or is welcome to support and get a taste of the action that way. Bringing people together for a fun sporting experience while letting them enjoy our beautiful capital, is a mission we at Brussels Airport fully support!”

New date

This year, the Brussels Airport Marathon & Half Marathon has been given a new place on the calendar. Because of the many events this autumn, including the Pope's visit, the date of 3 November was chosen in consultation with the security forces.
