Towards a carbon-free airport

We take all possible measures to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. We want to achieve Net Zero Carbon by 2030 at the latest. This means we keep our CO2 emissions as low as possible and compensate for the remaining part. To reduce our emissions, we rely on heating without gas, electric mobility and 100% renewable energy. In the future, we would also like to produce our energy locally. In addition, we are investigating how to offer airlines more environmentally friendly fuel. 

What we do 

• We reduce our emissions. By 2025, we want to reduce the carbon emissions from our own operations (scope 1) by 67% compared to 2010.  
• We use and produce green energy. We have been buying 100% green electricity since 2015. On our site, we also generate our own green energy, for example with solar panels. In time, we want to produce all our own green power.  
• We make our combustion plants more sustainable. By adding heat pumps, our gas consumption will soon be significantly reduced. All our new buildings are heated without gas.  
• We make our fleet greener. Our service vehicles run on CNG and we use electric buses on tarmac. As of 2022, our employees are offered only electric vehicles.
