Late last year, Brussels Airport’s Fire Brigade moved into two brand new fire stations. Time for a glimpse behind the scenes!
The new fire stations are located in the eastern and western sections of the airport grounds and have come to replace the three former fire stations North, South and the CCOT.
Fire stations East and West rank among the best in class in Europe: they have been designed and built in such a way that our firemen and firewoman are now able to operate with even greater efficiency in emergencies. To this end, they have been equipped with state-of-the-art technologies. The new design enables our firefighters to exit the fire station within 30 seconds of an alarm. An extremely rapid reaction that ensures consistent compliance with the statutory response times.
What is more, the ultra-modern fire stations are also highly energy-efficient: they have been fitted with solar panels, solar boilers, heat pumps and LED lighting. Even the rainwater is reused, both for sanitary purposes and as extinguishing water.
