For more than two years, Brussels Airport has been offering travel water: 50 cl bottles of water which can be purchased for just one euro each once you have passed security screening. They are available from an unmanned stand.
The concept was launched in July 2015. Our airport was, at the time, one of the first to follow the advice of ACI Europe: offer water at a low price after the screening of the hand luggage. Since then, hundreds of passengers drop a euro into the collection box at one of the stands in Connector or Pier B in exchange for a bottle of water.
Concept linked to charity
On Wednesday 14 February, the concept underwent a make-over. The principle remains the same: passengers can still buy a bottle of water for a euro once they have passed the screening. What is new is that the initiative is now linked to charity: the money raised at the stands will be donated to UNICEF, the WWF, the Belgian Red Cross and SOS Kinderdorpen, the charities supported by Brussels Airport. Travel water is therefore being renamed ‘Water with a cause’ and the stands are being given a fresh look for the occasion. You can find the stands after the passenger screening in Connector (in the direction of Pier A) and at the start of Pier B.
Do you sometimes go airside in the airport terminal? If you do, take a look for yourself. Or even better: buy a bottle yourself and help support charity!
