Last year, a record number of passengers took the train to travel to and from Brussels Airport: more than 4.8 million people took the train, twelve percent more than the previous record of 4.2 million passengers in 2015.
This means that nearly a quarter of all passengers make use of the train to travel to and from the airport. That is good news, since one of the ambitions of Brussels Airport for 2040 revolves around achieving a “50/50 modal split”: 50% of all trips to and from the airport should be made by public transport or by bicycle and 50% by car. In this way, our airport wants to help reduce traffic congestion throughout the region, and is working together with the government and the transport companies to achieve this aim.
