Leading by example to regain the trust of our passengers
As employees of the airport or of partner companies we are all ambassadors of Brussels Airport. By complying with protective health measures, we help to improve the passenger's perception that it is safe to travel.
Did you know that the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has selected Brussels Airport as one of the pilot airports for the implementation of its operational recommendations related to Covid-19?
EASA recommendations listed for you:
- Social distance: 1.5m from others
It is recommended to keep a social distance of 1.5 m from others where possible.
- Mouth nose mask: mandatory
Wearing a mouth nose mask is mandatory for all passengers and airport staff as soon as they enter the terminal. Children under 12 years of age and persons who can prove with a medical certificate that they cannot wear the mask are exempt. Removal of the mask is only allowed for a short time to drink or eat something while seated. However, although it is not recommended, if you are working behind a protective plexiglass screen, you are allowed to remove your face mask.
- Hand hygiene: crucial
Good hand hygiene is important: regularly wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water for 15 to 20 seconds.
Staff who wear gloves should disinfect them in the same way as the hands and change them regularly. When soap and water are not available, hand sanitizer gel is the best alternative.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE): necessary if in contact with passengers
Staff in direct contact with passengers must wear a mouth nose mask, gloves and their uniform. Gloves must be changed regularly and uniforms must be changed daily. Staff members sitting behind a protective plexiglass screen are not obliged to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Thorough cleaning
Our cleaning partner carries out additional and more thorough cleaning rounds. This allows all of us to work in a healthy environment that we will make sure to keep that way. Trolleys, trays, ... are systematically disinfected for the passengers.
- Temperature check: staff exempted
Since 15 June, passengers are requested to undergo a body temperature check on departure and arrival.
Anyone whose temperature exceeds 38°C will be checked a second time. If during this second passage, the body temperature is again above 38°C, the person will be discreetly guided to the medical staff. Passengers who show symptoms of Covid-19 may be denied access to the terminal.
This is only for passengers; staff members are exempt from this check and can therefore enter the terminal directly.
- Access on presentation of a flight reservation or airport badge
To avoid too many people being present in the terminal at one time, it will only be accessible to persons with a flight reservation or an airport badge. This also applies to persons coming to pick up or drop off passengers.
- Air conditioning running at reduced capacity
In the current circumstances, health and safety is more important than ever, which is why the air conditioning in the terminal cannot run at maximum capacity. As a result, it may be warmer than usual which may have an impact on your comfort. We ask for your understanding.
To protect oneself is also to protect and... reassure others!
