Do you sometimes wonder what happens to the objects that passengers forget or have to leave behind at security screening? Our colleagues at Lost & Found make sure that these items end up at various charities!
Liquids and gels in oversized containers must be left behind by passengers at the security screening. Often these are long-life foods or items for personal hygiene that are still in perfect condition. In order to give these products a sustainable new life, Lost & Found BAC donates the items to various non-profit organisations in the area.
Electronics and other items
Electronic devices are donated to the Belgian non-profit organisation Close the Gap. The mission of this non-profit organisation is to close the digital gap in the world. They ensure that the abandoned electronic devices that are not collected after 6 months, end up in educational, social and medical projects in developing countries.
Other lost objects, with the exception of official documents, are stored at Lost & Found for 6 months. Afterwards, these are collected by an auction house, the proceeds of which are invested in BAC's projects. Official documents are handed over to the federal police after one month, after which it is no longer possible to recover them.
