Brussels Airport has built up an art collection over the years, but the airport has changed a lot in that same period. Some works no longer fit into the infrastructure and have therefore been removed and placed in a safe depository.
A large part of the art collection will be auctioned on Sunday 25 March. The money raised at this auction will be used for supporting several projects and charities.
“Scimitar" by Panamarenko, "Voler" by Jean-Michel Folon and "Femme regardant le soleil" by Georges Grard are just a few of the top works from the collection which will be offered at the auction. The works that will remain at the airport are "Flight in Mind" by Olivier Strebelle, which now stands in the Memorial Garden, "The man who measures the clouds" by Jan Fabre, which is located on the top of the CCOT fire brigade station and "Voie des airs" by Jacques Moeschal, the large piece of art in Topaas.
