On December 20th, a brand-new concept for passengers with a connecting flight was implemented at Brussels Airport. With the connections concept, we wish to improve the experience of passengers with a connecting flight throughout their journey.
New signage shows passengers the way
As a major European HUB, Brussels Airport attracts an ever increasing number of transfer passengers each year. In order to make it easier for these passengers to find their way through our airport, a whole new signage concept was developed with a dedicated pictogram, a distinct colour and terminology.
Targeted communication on the FIDS
Along with the adapted signage in Connector and the piers, the FIDS screens in these areas are also partially used for targeted communication to passengers with a connecting flight. The connections screen of every cluster always shows the local time, the location where the passenger is and the estimated walking distance to the gate areas.
Step-by-step plan in Pier B Arrivals
In addition, a number of step-by-step plans are being put up in Pier B on the Arrivals level, showing the different steps that passengers have to take on the way to their connecting flight. This gives passengers a better picture of what awaits them, which means less stress and a better airport experience.
Connections page on the website
Passengers with a connecting flight can also find a special connections page on our website which offers a clear overview of all the steps they'll have to go through from the moment they land at Brussels Airport until they reach their departure gate.
Simplified map helps passengers on their way
In order to help the passengers to better understand the structure of Brussels Airport, a very simple map of the departure gates was also developed. This can be found on the website, in the connections video and on the back of the Express Connections Card.
