More than 1,000 invitees gathered in the Skyhall on Thursday 25 January for the annual New Year's reception for the airport community.
During his speech, Brussels Airport Company CEO Arnaud Feist looked back on the many achievements of 2023. Achievements that were only possible thanks to the contribution of the tens of thousands of faces that make up the airport community.
The retrospective video of 2023 is intended as a tribute to everyone in our community who every day give it their all to provide our customers with the best possible service and, in doing so, contribute to the success of Brussels Airport.
Let's look at 2024
2024 looks even more promising. We will certainly welcome a few more million passengers, which will bring us even closer to pre-Covid levels.
We continue to invest in the expansion of our intercontinental network with increased frequencies and new destinations in North America, Africa and Asia including Singapore, Nairobi, Toronto, Amman and Jeddah.
We will maintain our position as an essential logistics platform in Western Europe thanks to the know-how of our Brucargo community and our continued innovation and investments in state-of-the-art logistics infrastructure.
We are building additional capacity for temperature-controlled storage in Brucargo Central, not only for our existing pharma & life sciences partners but also for new partners.
Even in a year of political and economic uncertainty, there are plenty of opportunities and new projects to embrace. But there are also some major challenges.
One of the most important is the renewal of our environmental permit that we need to continue operating our airport beyond 7 July 2024. Given the importance of Brussels Airport for the Belgian economy (with over three billion euros of added value per year), we are confident that this environmental permit will be renewed on time.
Together, let's make 2024 a year to remember!
