On 27 November 2020, the worldwide first vaccine flight took off from Brussels Airport to the United States. One year later, over half a billion vaccines have been exported from Brussels Airport and over 200 million imported.
Thanks to our many years of experience and our dedicated infrastructure Brussels Airport became the major hub for vaccine shipments in Europe, with daily vaccine flights to over 60 destinations around the globe. An achievement, we can rightly be proud of!
Vaccines are not only exported and imported through Brussels Airport. Our airport also plays its role as hub for transfer flights from Asia to destinations including South America and Africa (with Sinovac and Sinopharm). Flights have also been operated within the COVAX programme of the World Health Organisation with vaccine donations from member states of the European union to African destinations.
