The Departures curb at Brussels Airport was given a total makeover this summer. The completely renovated curb has become a green and welcoming area for passengers, visitors and staff of Brussels Airport and the adjacent businesses.
Seven sons tree and so on
In just a few weeks, the desolate, car-free strip of asphalt was given an entirely new look. The asphalt was painted, benches were placed and trees and shrubs planted. From the red-leaved tree of heaven, to the black birch to the seven-sons tree, a choice has been made for trees and plants that provide colour.
Short break
The new look turns the entrance to the departure hall into a fine place, somewhere to catch a breath of fresh air or take a short break. The new plants are not yet in optima forma. Just as in any recently planted garden, they need time to, literally and figuratively, take root. But don’t worry, our tree surgeon is following the situation closely and will intervene where necessary. The planters also have sensors so that they can remotely check the dryness or moisture of the soil, as well as the degree of acidity. During the season, they will, of course, drop in weekly to water and fertilise where necessary, but thanks to the sensors they can also intervene at other moments. One thing is certain: next year, the curb will be in full bloom.
Our tiny park wants to welcome everybody, and become a place both to relax and to meet others. A welcome back from a short or long journey. An inviting place, where everyone can feel at home.
